General Dentistry

Royal Oak Family Dentistry offers fillings, crowns, root canals, oral surgery, implants, bridges and dentures. Our patients are presented with with latest in sedation dentistry while they under go the general procedures listed below.

Oral Surgery

In most cases, the removal of teeth is performed under local anesthesia, laughing gas (nitrous oxide/oxygen analgesia) or intravenous sedation. These options as well as the surgical risks (i.e. sensory nerve damage, sinus complications) will be discussed with you before the procedure is performed. Once the teeth are removed, the gum is sutured and gauze is placed in your mouth to bite on to control bleeding. You will rest under our supervision in the office until you are ready to be taken home. Upon discharge, your post-operative kit will include postoperative instructions, a prescription for pain medication, antibiotics and a follow-up appointment in one week for suture removal.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call our office. If you have missing teeth we have several options to replace the missing area(s), from dental implants to complete dentures, we will advise you on what will suit you best.

Implants

The state of the art way to replacing missing teeth. A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that our periodontist places into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants are an ideal option for people in good general oral health who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason. Unlike fixed bridges, dental implants do not rely on neighboring teeth for support.

Dental implants are so natural looking and feeling; you may forget you ever lost a tooth. Perhaps you hide your smile because of spaces from missing teeth. Maybe your dentures don't feel secure. Perhaps you have difficulty chewing. Under proper conditions, such as placement by our periodontist and proper patient maintenance, implants can last a lifetime. Long-term studies continue to show improving success rates for implants. Once the implant is secured into the jawbone, a porcelain crown is placed. If you are missing one or more teeth and would like to smile, speak and eat again with comfort and confidence, there is good news! Dental implants are teeth that can look and feel just like your own!
